The index fund's NAV already includes its own expense ratio and tracking error, so this is what you would actually have earned. The comparison uses the Nifty Midcap 150 index fund we match to this category, which may differ from the fund's official benchmark, and it can only cover months where both funds have NAVs (Oct 2019 to Oct 2026). Only funds that still exist are compared; merged or closed funds, often the weaker ones, drop out of AMFI's list, which flatters active funds as a group (how this comparison works).
Every SIP this fund has ever allowed: rolling returns
We started a 5-year SIP in every month the Regular plan's history allows — 187 separate SIPs. The worst returned -4.8% a year (started Apr 2015), the median 18.0%, the best 32.4%; 1% of them lost money. That spread is the honest answer to “what return should I expect?” — not a single trailing number.
